Dany's Dream Renovation

“My dream renovation would definitely be our backyard! My husband and I love cooking and entertaining people so I would love to add a deck and pergola to our backyard, along with a grill, outdoor seating space and beautiful landscape design. I would even include a bar area where Alfonso could display his Tequila Patrón bottles and host one of his famous Tequila tasting sessions (you would all be invited obviously!). Me? I would just sit outside to read with my coffee or a glass of wine.”

Brooke's Dream Renovation

“We purchased our home at the beginning of this year knowing there were some renovations we plan to complete over the next couple of years. A cute little 3/1 bungalow in Murray Hill and nearly 100 years old, she was surprisingly turn-key in most every way. Some things like our mini-backyard makeover (where we laid sod and put in a storage shed) were easy to accomplish right off the bat while other things, like creating 21st century storage space and reconfiguring our one and only bathroom to better maximize the available square footage are on my list of dream renos.

The current closet in our master bedroom is teensy, so I would wall off the doorway to that closet and frame out a much larger closet in our master bedroom to accommodate both my and my husband’s wardrobe (he has been banished to the 3rd bedroom and has all his things organized in an IKEA Pax wardrobe while I have a long, rolling clothing rack in our bedroom). An identical closet could be created in the 2nd bedroom, providing much-needed household storage for things like suitcases, off-season clothes, and linens.

There is currently zero storage space in our one and only bathroom. By walling off the current tiny-closet in the master bedroom and flipping entry to that column of space to the bathroom side, we would create much-needed storage in the bathroom for towels, toiletries, and cleaning supplies. No more waddling across the house at the most inopportune times to grab this or that! And with a much larger closet now serving the 2nd bedroom, the square footage jutting into the bathroom from that itty-bitty closet is freed up. Bam! Room for a double sink vanity! Sometimes your significant other just needs their own sink already!

And if we’re on the subject of dream renos: I would definitely extend the kitchen out a bit with a larger peninsula for more food prep and general hang-out space and add open shelving for kitchen pretties. We’re currently rocking the industrial look with a wire shelving unit for a pantry in the laundry room off the kitchen, so a proper cabinet there wouldn’t be too bad either. There’s also a perfect spot off the 3rd bedroom we could add a 2nd bathroom without changing the footprint of the home too much. Dream. Come. True.

Some functional changes in these high-use areas of our home would obviously be AMAZING in the short-term and would add value in the long run – bathrooms and kitchens are so important! I can’t wait to tackle these one day. I love our home as-is but there’s so much potential calling my name!“

Jamie's Dream Renovation

“I constantly talk about what I would renovate in my home. There are so many projects that I’d love to get started but our backyard is highest on my wishlist. My significant other has a big family and most family events take place at our home. Having a backyard that is perfect for entertaining and also safe for kids is our dream! I must say as well, when my significant other gets together with his brothers and friends, they like to stay up late and do not use quiet voices. Having a backyard that has an indoor feeling, will give me a reason to kick them outside. Haha!”

Sadie's Dream Renovation

“A dream renovation of mine would be one that I am in the middle of doing in my home, which is a dream Pinterest home office/craft room.

When we were searching for our first home, extra bedrooms were a must, as I have been planning for the most perfect office/craft room for years. Being a Realtor, I am constantly taking calls and needing a quiet space to focus on my work at a moment's notice, and having a space that I feel inspired in is important to me. I’ve also always had a love for all things crafts, from jewelry making, Cricut-ing, crocheting, digital design, sewing, puzzling and so much more. I have accumulated so much stuff from all of my crafting hobbies that dedicating a whole room is a necessity at this point, and my full bookshelf of Disney puzzles can attest to that!”

Anna's Dream Renovation

“While we are currently in the midst of an exciting renovation on our double-decker back deck and front deck bridge and are planning to follow it with some additional interior and exterior projects, my *dream* renovation is one rooted purely in convenience. We live in a three story home, and my dream is to relocate the washer and dryer to the floor with our bedrooms. When we fell in love with our home, we didn’t consider the impact of having the laundry room two floors away from our bedroom. The dream would be a reconfiguration where a laundry room fit perfectly into our current floor, but the reality would likely mean opening up an existing closet by stealing a little space from the closet behind it to fit the W/D. After adding electrical, plumbing, and ventilation for the new units, we’d relocate the W/D to this closet on our floor and convert our current laundry/mudroom into a dedicated mudroom with storage that would address our other needs and provide space for my husband’s post-shift change from his scrubs. This will most likely stay a dream because the convenience isn’t worth the cost and hassle, but it is still fun to think about!”

MaryAnne's Dream Renovation

“My dream renovation is the one we just wrapped up at our new home! We are used to restoring historic homes so this one, in its 1980s glory, was a different kind of challenge for us! Our goal was a bright and airy space for our family of of four (and our puppers!) so the first item on the list was opening the closed off and traditional floorplan into an open concept with plenty of sight lines… to ensure no one was drawing on the walls with a sharpie marker...oh, just us? We took down six major walls, some of which were load-bearnig, so beams and lots of planning were involved. We went over all of the red tile floors with a light LVP flooring that I am obsessed with and painted every wall "Bit of Sugar" white. I wanted a mix of fixtures that included golds, blacks, and whites and you can find that reflected in our light fixtures, knobs, and sinks! My two biggest must-haves was our 60 in fridge because I am a firm believer its important to be the house with alllll the snacks and an oversized island for breakfast, homework stations, and gathersings with friends!”
